Not Another Corporate SaaS Story
SyncedSport wasn't built by a venture-backed team who interviewed assignors. It was built by a tournament organizer, referee leader, and software developer who got tired of spreadsheet hell.
Hi, I'm Joey Fisher
I've been a leader in the basketball referee community for 3 years. Treasurer, mentor, tournament organizer, association webmaster, and soon-to-be assignor.
Last season, I organized a 120-game tournament. Coordinating refs, mentors, and teams at 11pm via spreadsheets and text messages. It worked, but it was chaos.
As association webmaster, I built our club portal from scratch - member management, professional email system (Graph API), file sharing, calendar integration, and full access logs. It shipped, people use it, and it works.
But assignment management? That was still broken.
I'm also a professional software developer with a Computer Science degree. I spend my days building tools that solve real problems. When I saw assignors struggling with outdated platforms, manual workflows masquerading as "automation," and clunky payment processes, I knew I could build something better.
"I'm building SyncedSport because I need it myself. As an assignor, I've experienced firsthand the limitations of current tools. This is both a great business opportunity and a personal mission. We deserve better tools, and I'm committed to building them."
The Journey
From ref leader to platform builder
Started in Referee Leadership
Began as a mentor and executive member for community basketball referees, managing operations and building relationships.
Organized 120-Game Tournament
Coordinated referees, mentors, and teams across a major tournament. Learned firsthand how broken assignment tools really are.
Built Referee Portal
As Webmaster, shipped a full management system (React + Supabase) with email integration, file sharing, and member management.
Building SyncedSport
Developing the assignment platform the industry needs. Full-time focus on product development.
Launching SyncedSport
ProjectedPublic launch Q2 2026. Bringing modern tools to sports assignors everywhere.
Why This Actually Works
Most assignment platforms are built by developers who interviewed assignors once. This is built by someone who organizes tournaments, manages refs, and ships code.
Tournament Operations
Organized 120-game tournaments with referee assignments, mentor coordination, and team scheduling.
Full-Stack Development
Computer Science degree + professional dev experience. Built production systems with React, Supabase, and modern APIs.
Community Leadership
Treasurer for community refs, association webmaster, mentor to officials. Embedded in the community.
Referee Operations
Years coordinating referee assignments for large tournaments. Firsthand experience with the challenges assignors face daily.
The Mission
Build the assignment platform that doesn't suck. Give assignors their time back. Make scheduling so simple it feels like magic. And prove that software built by the people who use it beats corporate bloatware every time.
